About Sable Island

Started in 1998 by Jeremy Duschenes and Peter Milne, the philosophy of Sable Island is to produce design–led, long-lasting furniture in mainly North American solid wood. Veneers or composites may used for drawer bottoms and other panels since they do not expand or shrink.

The company does not produce ‘distressed’ furniture. Mainly designed by Duschenes and Milne, the pieces are made and finished (in wax, polyurethene or lacquer) mostly by hand and using traditional construction techniques, both in North America and abroad. When manufactured abroad, the working conditions and practises are safe and ethical.

Sable Island Products

The company produces a full range of timeless and unfussy furniture for both domestic and contract customers. A series of twelve collections in a variety of woods- (including ash, oak, cherry and walnut ) finishes and designs (both contemporary and more traditional) offers furniture for the whole home, including coffee tables, – furniture that the company confidently predicts will outlast the purchaser!
